City of Vancouver Public Engagement Strategy + Policy Creation

The Public Good is currently working with the City of Vancouver Corporate Communications team to develop a new Public Engagement Strategy to help standardize the way the City conducts public and stakeholder engagement. This work includes managing internal and external stakeholder consultation, development of guiding principles, commitments and standards, as well as the production of a stand-alone framework document, policy development and the creation of an interactive engagement toolkit.

City of Vancouver - Northeast False Creek Area Plan Engagement (as City of Vancouver staff)

Emory managed the public, stakeholder and Indigenous engagement for the Northeast False Creek Area Planning process. Emory developed a multi-departmental engagement framework, provided strategic advice and designed and led over 90 engagement opportunities over 2 years, including: advisory committee formation and facilitation, block parties, pop-up storefronts, open houses, design charrettes and online mapping tools and surveys. Additionally, Emory developed cultural policy for the NEFC Plan and led the development of a Reconciliation and Cultural Redress chapter in the plan, a first for the City of Vancouver.

 

Thompson Nicola Regional District Library Strategic Plan

The Public Good managed the development of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District Library strategic plan and corresponding public engagement process. Our team worked with TNRD Library staff, library board members, and 2,400 members of the general public to gather input on the future role of the TNRD Public Library in the larger community. This input helped shape the new long-term strategic plan. The work completed for this project included: a rural library system best practice review; branding, infographic creation and graphic design; key informant interviews; staff survey and workshops; online public survey; 4 public events; a bookmobile roadshow; multiple youth engagement opportunities; and the development of the strategic plan document.

Winnipeg Public Library Strategic Plan

The Public Good managed the development of the Winnipeg Public Library's long-range strategic plan and corresponding public engagement strategy. During the life of the project, branded ‘Inspiring Ideas!”, our team worked with WPL staff, the library board and the general public to gather input on the future of the Winnipeg Public Library. This input was used shape the 2015-2020 strategic plan. Work completed during this project included: a library technology scan; key informant interviews; a staff survey and workshops; board workshops, a public survey using the MetroQuest platform; a media launch event; open houses, youth engagement opportunities; and the development of the strategic plan document.
